Unconference

"Unconferences", like all things "un" these days, is gaining momentum (a quick Google search shows the number). Gurteen has a useful differentiation between traditional conferences and unconferences - reads like the differences in classrooms...I'm at the ECOO conference this week...some of the thoughts expressed by transitioning conferences are particularly relevant (one of their questionnaires asks about extended, month-long conferences (online before and after)…the thinking is starting to shift).

I am here at the same conference. It has been interesting to come here and hear some of the ideas that people are sharing. While it still seems to follow the traditional conference format, I have heard participants, notably in yesterday's preconference workshop on e-learning, talking about taking the teaching/learning process in some interesting new directions. Some of the presentations I have seen reassure me that I am on a good path.

I'm looking forward to hearing you speak tomorrow.
