Rob Reynolds, of xplanazine offers an excellent overview of weekly developments in technology and learning. The short presenetation (4 minutes) is an example of the increased role filtering agents will have in reflecting rapid changes in the online space. I personally love reading blogs...and look forward to reading my bloglines account more so than my email. Not everyone, however, has the time (or willingness to input the effort) required. The use of filtering agents allows individuals to stay current without the time requirements. In a sense, this isn't that different from what newspapers or TV programs offer - they provide a glimpse of what happened during the day. The key element of Rob's work here (and OLDaily) is the specialized aggregation - the broadcast of information to a niche market.
