Like Christopher, I'm concerned about the state of higher education. I'm concerned because I've gained much as a member of this community...and feel that universities and colleges have a critical role to play in society. Like many others, I care because I'm passionate about their potential - they are institutions worthy of transformation. Taking back the university: "As a doctoral student, I have witnessed the development of new pedagogies, new forms of learning environments that build on a learners’ desires and skills and that meet both functional and educational needs. And I have witnessed many academics curse, ballyhoo, and condemn these new teaching and learning ecologies."
