Mass amateurization is one of the most significant trends that I see unfolding in society today. Anyone can create a blog, podcast, or video blog - often without any expense. In some cases, hosting is free. In this model, connections, not hierarchy rules. Traditional media has dominated by controlling and filtering information. Now, the doors have swung wide open. It's a bit unnerving for many who prefer information nicely packaged in a news program. Still, the growth of amateur experts (how's that for a contradiction?) is rapidly due to the recent availability of technology.
