Hi Sarah - with our courses, we took a variety of approaches:

1. RSS feeds
2. Google Alerts
3. Course hashtags
4. Central forum (Moodle)
5. Netvibes (in CCK08)

Essentially, we tried to rely on a combination of social and technological approaches for sensemaking and wayfinding. The social systems - such as twitter conversation/tags - were a bit fuzzy, but ended up being valuable filtering tools.

Hi George

Complete change of topic. I am facilitating the open online course "Facilitating Online", which I am sure you know about...it was started by Leigh Blackall several years ago: http://wikieducator.org/Facilitating_Online

It is sitting at about 60 people at the moment which is far bigger than I am used to. I know people will drop out, but do you have any tips or hints on the best way to manage these numbers other than the obvious ones like being very organised with RSS?

thanks a lot, Sarah
