Capacity, Change, and Performance

Capacity, Change, and Performance (.pdf here) is a lengthy report (166 pages) from 2008. The report is focused on development agencies, but many of the concepts tackled apply well to corporations and education. The report is worth more of an analysis/critique than I have time for now, but I’d to draw attention to the chart on page 19-20 (of the pdf) addressing major distinctions between planning in traditional systems versus planning in complex adaptive systems. For schools, universities, and organizations that are seeking to create an integrated learning/technology/knowledge strategy, these distinctions are important to consider.

    George;
    Thanks for passing this on. It seems rooted in a view of educational and personal development that is wider in scope than I usually consider and I think potentially very helpful. I especially liked on pages 26-33 where they talk about the Five Core Capabilities.
