Google TV

In a perfect world, I’d like to think that technology gravitates to what gives individuals the greatest personal control and spectrum of options (I’d love to, for example, see the open Android model succeed over the closed iPhone model). This week, Google announced Google TV, with the intent of bringing greater choice and access for viewers. Their view of “TV meets the Web” has been tried by others in the past. But with some strong content providers and the identity of Google, it has more potential than other half-hearted initiatives (Apple TV). Engaget offers a fairly detailed review of the initiative. Google’s interest? As always, organize the world’s information so it can be monetized.

  1. I am so hopeful that this catches fire…and solid competition follows in order to keep consumer costs low.

However, I’d prefer that Google focus on education apps, instead…one’s that would be helpful to students and teachers.
