Game Design Open Online Course

Planet Kodu is offering an open online course in Game Design with Kodu. From the overview of the course: “It will run for five weeks and the outline of the curriculum is on the overview page. Each week will consist of delivered content through text, readings, videos and required tasks posted on Monday morning each week but the delivered content is only part of the picture and we expect all participants will contribute knowledge and ideas.” [The course starts today]

The lab supporting Planet Kodu is supported by Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, DEECD, University of Melbourne’s Graduate School of Education, and Hume City Council. Why is this relevant? The course is building on the model Stephen Downes and I have used in our connectivism course over the last few years. I appreciate seeing others experiment with the model and advance discussion on alternative design and pedagogical models.

  2. Thanks for the finding us George and your words of support.

Yes, we’re really interested in gaining a greater understanding of the connectivist model and the implications for design and delivery of online courses.
