KnowledgeWorks, in their 2020 education forecast, suggests our future will be one where “each of us has the opportunity – and the responsibility – to make our collective future” and that current pressures of change “are pushing us to create the future of learning as an ecosystem, in which we have yet to determine the role of educational institutions as we know them today”.
This is more of an obvious statement of what’s happening today rather than a forecast. The themes in the report are ones that I explore regularly on this site and in presentations: sensemaking through networks, pedagogy of participation, systemic change, augmented cognition, etc. The report leaves the impression that 2020 will be quite similar to today. Unfortunately, navigation is a bit of a pain. On a positive note: the report does capture many current trends that are important for educators to consider.
