Wikis at Work

Wikis at Work: “While wikis aren’t the best tool for discussions or real-time collaboration, they excel as resources for archiving documents and tracking workflow.”
Comment: I’ve used wikis for a variety of projects – including managing digital resources, brainstorming, archiving/link creation, and collaborative writing. Wikis are great tools, but they are foreign to how most people think and work. Like many new concepts, the value is in experimenting. The baggage of existing thinking is a great inhibitor to blogs, podcasts, wikis, and social bookmarks. Instead of accepting a tool for what it is and what it does, we too often try and fit it into our existing view of what is possible or required.
