Google as second brain?

Interesting article on the impact of Google (thanks Lisa). Why remember when you can search? When we offload basic cognitive functioning onto tools, in theory, we should then have more resources available for more advanced tasks.
I’ve noticed a similar benefit in blogging, furling, and using del.icio.us. Instead of filing and remembering, I dump content/resources into these tools and apply the intelligence at the search end (i.e. when I’m seeking and in need).
