Thinking About Google and The Turning Point

I’m a big fan of Google, but like others are noticing, it’s a tender trust relationship. Google puts out some great products (well, the RSS reader wasn’t that good…or its blog search), but I’ve started reducing my reliance (I use Skype instead of talk, Gmail is a secondary email client, I search with Yahoo and MSN, etc.). I don’t want to rely too much on one company – especially when the company is in the hands of a few. I’m willing to try cool/new tools…but I’m not willing to sell my independence in the process – Thinking About Google and The Turning Point: “…Google is coming close to a “worm turning” moment – a moment when the world realizes that the company is *too powerful* and its ambitions are *too great.*”
